Mallorca August

Mallorca August 13/08/18

Mallorca Blog by Hanne Holmen

August.
Mallorca is going on half speed. Shops and offices are closing early, so you can’t get any proper work done. Might as well relax - August is VACATION TIME!

I love Mallorca. This is my paradise, but even here, you might want a break occasionally; so, from time to time we talk about going on holiday. Again and again, where do we end up? Right here in our own backyard; Mallorca…

This island has everything we want.

  • Plenty of sun and white, sandy beaches, scattered rocky cliffs, and turquoise water for snorkelling. The coastline is also perfect to explore by boat.
  • The intriguing city of Palma offers amazing architecture, culture, shopping and fine dining.
  • Charming fishing villages and authentic countryside, all with their distinct identity where you can experience local food, wine and friendly people.
  • The beautiful and dramatic Sierra de Tramuntana for mountain hiking or biking - although I prefer driving classic cars on the narrow, curvy mountain roads.

But my favourite activities are sailing and off-road driving. If I can’t go sailing, I take the roof off my old, neglected 4x4 Suzuki Samurai and look for new adventures with wind in my hair. That is what I call holiday! And I can do it whenever I like!

So, year after year, we find ourselves holidaying on the island of our dreams. No plans, just making the days up as we go. We are perfectly happy right here. On Mallorca. Hope you will be too!
